How to defeat laziness

Filed under: Lifehack, Self improvement — Eugene @ 12:06 pm

It’s difficult, very difficult. But possible!

As soon as I saw all this week’s tasks were done, I instantly started to think of something interesting to do. Of course, I never even thought of making the next step in my business project. I had an absolutely different, totally stupid idea which I started to fulfil at once. Why, it’s so interesting and cognitive! After all, new knowledge - isn’t it great?

But what’s really interesting about this is that the great task I came up with puts me far from the goal I set in my life.

It’s a good thing I quickly realized that and decided to do what David Allen, the author of GTD, recommends. What should you do when there is nothing to do? Find out what’s the next step in your most important project. No next step - invent it!

I did just that. And was very happy with myself, because I got one thing straight: a small funny idea is certainly nice, but a project that can change my life is a completely different story.

And what would you choose to sacrifice - an entertaining but useless trifle or the goal of life, distant as it is.

Don’t rush to start an interesting project, let it settle in your mind, cool down and form. Remember that after you go for it, you would have no desire to do anything on your life-work project.

Just set all the interesting stuff aside, sit down and carefully plan the next step for that boring, annoying and unprofitable project, which your whole life depends on. And the mountain will move!

At least, this is what I do and I hope it will lead me to success!
