Most important thing, starting entrepreneurs forget to do to success their business
When you read this article you will learn about carefully guarded secret of successful entrepreneurs and established businessmen which made them rich and prosperous people. Using acquired knowledge on practice you will certainly achieve success for your business and earn hundreds more income than those who don’t know this.
What’s the difference between successful business and unsuccessful one? Successful business exists for a long time and satisfies its owner.
According to statistics only 5% of businesses survive and become successful. Why?
It seems there is a secret which is known only to some of (successful) entrepreneurs and unknown to others. The secret do exists. To understand its essence you must comprehend what business is and why it is necessary.
Very often people forget about it and consider business itself as main priority, the process of building it to be precise. “To build a business” becomes a goal in itself, the real business objectives are neglected.
I will give a real example which isn’t connected with business directly but reveals clearly the same problem which is a key factor for creating a successful business.
Department chief gives the programmer a task: to correct some important system bugs. Bugs are really important and the programmer realizes it and corrects them during a short period of time. Nevertheless we have the following state of affairs: the programmer corrects bugs on his/her computer, then puts them out on test server and reports nobody about it, neither tester nor department chief. As a result there are no corrections on basic server. The task as a matter of fact remains unfulfilled.
While probing the problem occurred the programmer tries to convince that he has done everything correctly and it’s not his fault that results of his work weren’t tested.
Everything could be done the other way round had the department chief set another, completely concrete goal for programmer: the corrections must be tested and put out on basic server on certain date. The programmer is responsible for the corrections to be put out on basic server. On the appointed date the programmer must report about the work he had carried out.
For customer and for company’s business it is important that operating version of system works without faults. The thing that mistakes were corrected (somewhere, in the middle of nowhere) has no interest for nobody as this doesn’t influence the business at all.
That’s why it’s very important to choose and set a goal for any work.
Goal is a decisive factor of success in business.
Prosperity of business is determined by the way how goals are achieved.
I don’t hesitate to admit that the case described in the example happened with me a pair of years ago.
Everybody can make mistakes, that’s why it’s important to analyze them, to learn by your own experience and next time to choose a better way of action.
Here comes one more pair of examples showing the importance of goal setting:
If you say: “I want to make a movement with my hand” nobody will understand anything (why? For what?). The phrase turns out to be senseless.
If you say: “I want to make a movement with my hand to take an apple and eat it up”, the phrase immediately acquires sense. The goal of movement is set: to take an apple and eat it up.
Nevertheless after adding a goal the phrase becomes sensible: “I want to start a business to earn $100.000 in nearest 5 years”.
Setting and achievement of certain goals is the very secret which is known to successful entrepreneurs and is unknown to the rest of people.
Having decided to start your own business first of all set a precise goal which must be achieved by the business, determine concrete numeric and temporal indexes of achieving goal.
Remember that business has no sense without a goal.
I have already begun to think about goals of my business… What about you?
In the next release I will show which goals I have set.
